Olde English Bulldogge

Olde English Bulldogge

The Olde English Buldogge, a relatively new and rare breed, was developed through the crossing of half English Bulldog, and Bullmastiff, Pit Bull and American Bulldog. This was born of a desire to leave the less desirable traits of breathing and breeding problems and to create a dog that harkened back to its healthier ancestors. The goal was to create a cross between the appearance of an 18th century bulldog and the temperament and personality of an English Bulldog.

Olde English Bulldogge is a medium size dog that is very athletic and strong. Build is balanced, with a prominent head and large cheeks. Featuring a wrinkled, domed forehead and square muzzle, this dog has a broad, black nose with rose or button ears. It has a wide, deep chest with a low, tapered tail. Colorings include red, gray and black peppered with white. Males typically measure 17 to 20 inches in height and 60 to 80 pounds. Females measure 16 to 19 inches in height, weighing in at between 50 and 70 pounds.

Personality

These docile dogs are also fearless and fierce, willing to fight off any threat to its master. However, they're great around kids and are protective and athletic. They love to chew things, so providing plenty of toys or rawhides is a good idea. Olde English Bulldogges are eager to please their master and will do whatever it takes, even if they overexert themselves, to make it happen. This type of dog does slobber and drool, and it takes well to a human who establishes dominance over it immediately.
