Pomapoo

Pomapoo

Pomeranians ancestors were large, sleigh dogs that were used in the herding of livestock. It is in Pomerania that the reduction in size occurred. This style was later developed by dog breeders in the United States. Poodles, on the other hand, originated from Germany where they were renowned water retrievers. Popular nicknames include Pompoo, Poopom, Pom A Poo, Pom-A-Poo and Pooranian.

The average weight of a Pomapoo is between 5 to 15lbs, considering that the dog is a crossbred, this depends pretty much on which dominant genes your pet has. Being a relatively small dog, it can rise up to a height of 8-12 inches. The coat texture can be wavy, curly or straight.

Personality

This is a dog that is highly friendly and easy to be with. Depending on which side of the crossbreed your Pomapoo is a cute crossbreed between Poodle and Pomeranian. It is renowned for its smart nature and resembles a living teddy bear. It is a dog that one will find easily trainable. As with other dogs, you should start training them early. Being a mixture of two breeds, it is referred to as designer dog. Poomapoo leans heavily on, you could get an outgoing or timid dog. If you take the time to teach your dog to be social, they will become outgoing. If your pet leans more on the Pomeranian side, you will have an aggressive dog whereas the Poodle gene leads to a calm, obedient, and gentle dog. Pomapoos long for attention; otherwise, they sulk and get depressed.

Appearance

The Pompaoo has a lot of curly hair, requiring routine grooming. Brushing their coat once a week is sufficient to prevent the fur from tangling. Pomapoos do not shed fur, making them popular with many homeowners who have allergies. For hygienic purposes, trimming the dog’s hair around the genital areas and paw pads will ensure he remains in good health. Like other breeds, they are vulnerable to tooth decay if you do not take the time to brush their teeth. Their nails will need monthly trimming as they are typically an indoor dog, so their nails can grow quickly as they do not run outside often to keep them shorter.
