There is a great deal of variability in the appearance of a Scotchi, depending on which characteristics are inherited from its parents. Coats can be long and wiry, or short and smooth; ears can be floppy or stick up like triangles; colors are extremely diverse, and can include dashes of almost everything.

A Scotchi is a cross between a Scottish Terrier and a Chihuahua, and they are considered to be very intelligent and affectionate dogs, well-suited to behousehold pets. They crave attention, and are generally very happy dogs, enjoying activities like chasing after rodents and being playful with owners.
