Decrease of residual muscle tension or tonus of the pet. Loss of muscle tone in pets, formally known as muscular atrophy, is a condition that can cause dogs and cats' muscles to weaken or waste away. It is typically most obvious in the hind legs and/or hips and occurs most often in senior dogs and cats. There are many things that can cause loss of muscle tone in pets including lack of activity, aging and various diseases such as lime disease, myositis and thyroid disease.
