Fatigue

Exhaustion, tiring easily, sleeping more than normal or moving slower than normal. Fatigue in dogs and cats can have a wide variety of causes. The most common one is aging. If your pet shows a sudden sign of fatigue it is advised to consult a veterinarian, as it can be caused by for example an infection or trauma.

How to Recognize

Your pet will appear lethargic and tired, and may sleep more frequently. Your pet may show a decreased interest in activity, move slower, tire out more easily, or appear weak.

Causes

Fatigue can be the sign of an infection, such as Heartworms, parvovirus, distemper, or Kennel cough, or of a disease, such as Diabetes, heart disease, or liver disease.

Diagnosis

Fatigue is a common sign of many illnesses/injuries. It is important to seek veterinary care if your pet appears fatigued.

Treatments

Medication can also cause fatigue in animals, so be wary of any medications prescribed to your pet if they are already feeling fatigued.
