Inadequate Tear Production

Dry eyes are caused by an inadequate tear production. The eye is dry and uncomfortable because it does not produce enough tears to be healthy. This is mostly caused by the Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) or dry eye syndrome. Dry eyes are most commonly caused by abnormal activity of the immune system. When you notice your dog or cat having dry eyes, it is advised to consult a veterinarian to determine the exact cause and treatment.
