Thickened Skin

Swollen or Thickened skin in pets is typically accompanied by black pigmentation and a foul odor. This condition can occur in both cats and dogs, and the most common causes include food allergies, flea bite allergy and contact dermatitis. However, other things that can cause thickened skin in cats and dogs are hypothyroidism, other metabolic or hormonal imbalances, yeast infections, seborrhea and fungal infections.
