A disorder of digestive function of the dog or cat. Upset stomach in pets, medically known as gastritis, can occur in both cats and dogs and can indicate a vast array of health issues. Some of the more common reasons for upset stomach in dogs and cats include intestinal parasites (worms), poisoning, food allergies, inflammatory bowel disease and parvovirus. Other things that can cause upset stomach in pets are chemotherapy, gastroenteritis, various vaccinations and spoiled food.
How to Recognize
Dogs can\\\'t tell us if their stomachs hurt. Look out for signs like vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, and/or a bloated abdomen that can suggest they have an upset stomach.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease and gastric disease are common causes of upset stomachs in pets.
Make an appointment with your veterinarian, as these symptoms can be a signal something worse is going on.
Vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation can be a sign that your pet is dehydrated, or may quickly become dehydrated. Provide your pet with plenty of fresh, clean water. Your veterinarian may also be provide your pet with medication or a therapeutic food.
