The Blue Lacy dog, also called Lacy Dog, Lacy Game Dog, Texas Blue Lacy, and Lacy Hog Dog, is a working dog that originated in the mid-19th century in Texas and it was first recognized by the Texas Senate (2001).

The Texas Blue Lacy, or Blue Lacy Dog, is a muscular medium-sized dog. Blue Lacys have a light and proportionate appearance. Their legs are strong and their bodies tend to be light. Their ears are medium-sized and fold forward. The Lacy's coat is flat, smooth and tight.

Blue Lacy dogs were bred as working dogs and therefore have incredible stamina and determination. They are very smart and easy to please, which means they are usually easy to train. Even though they are affectionate and fond of children, they may be too intense for small children. They need plenty of exercise outdoors and are not suited for apartment living. They need consistent and assertive leadership.

There are three color varieties of the “Blue” Lacy: Blues (any shade of gray from silver to dark charcoal), Reds (from light cream to rust) and Tri colored varieties. The "Tri" combines a blue base with red markings, and may have some with colorings on the chest. The Lacy's coat is flat, smooth and tight and should be brushed regularly.
