Both the Bichon Frise and the Toy Poodle require professional grooming. It stands to reason that the offspring of this cross mating also needs to be groomed. The typical Bichpoo has a moderately curly coat that can quickly mat if left unattended to. It is possible to learn how to cut your dog's fur, but most owners recommend finding a professional to do the job for you. If your puppy is like its parents, it will require grooming every six to eight weeks.

You can bathe your dog at home between grooming if you choose to do so.

You can also clip its nails if necessary. Because of the frequency of grooming that is required, these things are typically done by your groomer. Chances are that you will not need to bathe your dog unless it becomes dirty.

Common Health Conditions in BichPoos

It is assumed that a bichpoo takes 50 percent of its genes from its sire and 50 percent from its dam. This means that your dog is prone to the same health issues as its parents are. These health issues include Addison's disease, Cushing's syndrome, hypothyroidism, Von Willdebrand's disease, hemophilia, epilepsy, diabetes, deafness, and patent ductus arteriosus. Your dog may also be prone to allergies, bladder infections, bladder stones, cataracts, dental disease, liver shunt, and patellar luxation. Because these are mixed breeds, it can be difficult to predict which health issues they may face as they grow.

When adding a dog or cat to your family you want to make sure your pet is happy, healthy and protected. During its lifetime your pet is exposed to many illnesses and diseases and some breeds are affected by a congenital disease which is a condition existing at birth. At these moments when your pet is ill or maybe needs surgery, you want to be protected for the unexpected and high veterinarian costs.
